The springs, balls, buttons and levers are available from Andover Norton as a complete kit for both sets of these switches – dip/main and indicators – so presumably also from whoever you usually buy from. A word of warning though, in the set I bought last year, the holes in the levers were too narrow and shallow to admit the ball, which is essential. Easily drilled out, though. AN agreed about these holes and said they'd quarantine their stock, maybe that's still the case or maybe good stuff's coming through now but caveat emptor. Also I've managed to mangle one of the ball springs before now, it's essential that everything's lined up correctly when you screw the plastic plate back in. About soldering, I managed to fix a loose wire in the indicator switch a few months ago out in the street, using an old-school soldering iron heated by a blow torch, and without a second pair of hands (hence also the mangled spring, that bit's tricky with only two hands, no bench etc.!), so I wouldn't be afraid of it. Good to see someone diving in there!

Ok, that's better, although the images are small. Hopefully, you will be able to clean up and/or repair the switch contacts? If not, then it could mean looking for a replacement switch.

Thanks fellas.

Tiny parts soaking in vinegar in the small container, the innards in vinegar in the largest container, and a cup of tea steeping in the British bikes mug that my kids gave me :). They picked it out themselves and I've had it since before I had the bike. It's got a BSA Gold Star, a Triumph Bonneville, a Vincent Black Shadow and a Brough Superior on it too, but the Norton Commando is the centre-piece. Pretty awesome.

Anyway, I've got the outer shell in the kitchen sink ready for a good scrubbing. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Not perfect, but a heck of a lot better than it was earlier today. And check it out :)

That's the first time I've seen the green light lit on my bike, and the first time I've seen the high beam for that matter. I'll sleep good tonight. Thanks for all the help and encouragement folks!!!

I'm not seeing those pictures, just so you know – strangely, a couple that I could see yesterday aren't showing now either – is it me?! – sorry, I don't mean to give you a headache!

I can't see the latest five pictures either. The 'cup' picture has also disappeared but as long as the switch is fixed.

Hmmm... I'm not sure why the images aren't working. I'll try posting 1 at a time to see if that makes any difference. I'll just try 1 first to see if it works:

Ah – I can't ... I wonder what's up. That's using Safari on a Mac, I just tried Firefox but no different.

Well...it was there (Firefox), now it's gone!

As moderator, I can look in and see it has a long Outlook email 'attachment' code, not an image URL.

Right, it probably has to do with how I'm inserting them. I am trying to copy and paste them strait of out an email. Do they need to exist somewhere else online to attach them using a URL?

Yes, I believe so. I did manage to post a couple of pictures a year or so ago, but things have changed since, got too complex for me, and I haven't bothered (so far) – as I understand it, it's easy enough to share images if you use a host that's compatible with the forum, there's a thread about it somewhere, but others will know more about it than I.

Yes, as a non-VIP you need to upload them to an image hosting website such as https://postimages.org/ (but not photobucket) then copy and paste the "Hotlink for forums" URLs into your messages.

Oh and I see my photos have gone, from here, post no. 1320. NVM, I'm just grateful to be able to use the forum, and never have been a VIP! :p Thanks for the URL L.A.B., I'll take a note of that and might try using it.

Oh and I see my photos have gone, from here, post no. 1320. NVM,

Unfortunately postimage made some changes to the URL codes (I believe for some legal reason?) which means that older postimages now don't show :( although the URLs can be corrected.

I've corrected yours and a few others on that page so if you check then you should find your images are there again?

Oh yes that's great, thanks L.A.B.! :D
