I am going to paint my steel 750 Interstate tank and side covers this winter and have not decided on what to do for the trim and logo. Do I go with the original type vinyl stickers, paint, or gold leaf. The tank will be black with the gold trim and logo. Has anyone done gold leaf and how were the results?

Like this...?

The stencils were provided by me (just in case you're interested ;) )

I did these two, one with variegated gold leaf and one with gold paint, 30+ years ago, and they turned out pretty well. Same technique as link above, color and a coat of clear, then the graphics, then more clear. I cut the stencils out of frisket paper by hand, and used them to apply a red backing color and adhesive, then laid on the leaf. Similar for the gold paint, with stencils from firsket paper. If I were doing it today I'd have the stencils cut out by machine by someone like B+Bogus. I've also done several with stock vinyl stickers and clear coat, and they also turned out well. With anything except vinyl, the trick is getting the edges sharp, or pin striping over them as I did.

Do you have a stencil kit for the interstate tank ? And how for how much ?

I only have the 'Norton' logos - the pinstripes need to be done with fine line tape
£8 a pair post-paid - let me know if you want the later 850 style or the 750 style used on Combats etc.

I also have 750 & 850 sidepanel stencils (with the pinstripes as a separate stencil for Roadsters).
