Hi, new here in fact just got the Norton. A 1974 850 roadster. I will have many questions soon but a quick one. The fibreglass fairing for the taillight, Is there an aftermarket one that is metal and can be chromed. The plastic looking one really takes away from the bike

I used this one from Fred at Old Brits http://www.oldbritts.com/17_100030.html

But I'm not sure if he has any left. He said he wasn't going to have any more made. But I've seen the same sort of housing advertised in other places, so you may be able to find it elsewhere.

I did have to drill holes in the sides to fit the turn signals.

if you use the aftermarket ones you will need to take a Dremel tool and carve out places for the frame rear loop the one on my bike I found on Ebay used for $19...

As an alternative, why not rattle can your plastic one with chrome paint? No one but you will know ;-)

I've been planning to rejuvenate my fairing as it has a few cracks etc. As I'm proficient in the art of fibreglass repair on sail boats, this should be easy for me. Have toyed with putting a layer of carbon weave over the outside and then clearcoating....would give it a real high-tech look ;-) But most liekly I'll just fix it up and rattle can in gloss black. There is also fake carbon-look vinyl wrap out there for those that want the look but not the fuss...

Old Brits one comes ready cut out for the frame loop etc. It also comes with invisible fixings as they mount from underneath the mudguard (fender). Rather than have the fixings drilled through the top of the casting.
It’s more expensive than the eBay options though.
