Got some interesting results testing the Veglia Tach which was on the bike with a Smiths Tach which came in a box of parts, source unknown. My Speedo is a Smiths and was hoping to match the guages. The Veglia read correctly on the bike . Looks like i will have to stick with the Veglia

Drill: rated at 0-1500 rpm according to label (Dewalt 18v)

Veglia: 3000 rpm - apparently 2 rpm/rev

Smiths: 6000 rpm - apparently 4 rpm/rev

Both units are 4:1 ratio (it's printed on the dials), and 1500 x 4 = 6000-so the Smiths gauge appears to be reading correctly and the Veglia is way off.

Hmmm , Thanks for confirming my contradiction. I expected a 4:1 ratio from the info on the dials, yet Veglia field tested on the bike, tests low ... I runderstand the drill will give me approximate results, but I expected the same relative reading. A retest is in order
