Tacho needle

hi my tacho needle broke (fell off) near the center base are there any do´s or dont´s to watch out for when taking the the tacho apart to fix (glue or replace) the needle ? Thanks.

The innards of the tacho are basically the same as a speedo, except for the lack of odometer parts, so here's some info: http://members.shaw.ca/randell/Smith/Speedo.html

The needle itself is just a press-fit on a pin.
