My Mk2 came with plastic "Oil Seals", Mk3 style. I was planning to replace them but of course suffered a bit of sticker shock at 26.97 each. The earlier version which is a metal cupped washer and o-ring is called a "Dust Seal" and cost about 10 bucks per side. Is the Mk3 seal actually better? Or just more expensive?

Despite the fact that my project bike is fairly low miles these plastic seals were not in very good shape, which makes me wonder if they are more prone to damage during use.

Oops! Wasn't clear that I was talking about the swingarm is it! Parts 06-5227 vs 06-0446 & 06-0449. I have edited the subject line to help ease confusion.
