Swing arm question

Was having a close inspection of the swing arm ( the bit the rear wheel bolts into ).

The holes that the rear shock bolt onto, the hole on the LH side is 3/8 (near the sprocket) and the RH hole is pretty close to 1/2 inch ?.

Is this correct ( I wouldn't imagine so....) ?.

On my '72 750 both sides have 3/8" hole.

They are both the same size (3/8) on all of the bikes I have seen.

My wife says I am crap in the sack, there is only one thing I am worse at, stick welding......
