The 1967 Atlas I had bought a month ago, had the bottom end done about 1990 and only has about 70 miles on since the rebuild..I am sure the crank bearings were replaced but not sure if they are the superblend type...Should I dig into bottom end to check, or should it be ok to run for several thousand miles? Just don't want to have a catastrophe waiting to happen in there....

I doubt there will be a problem with either type of bearing in an Atlas motor. It should be easy enough to check for end float to determine if Superblends are installed

Sounds encouraging....I found brand new pistons, that were the kind known for splitting in half..They have been replaced and also fitting new bronze valve guides and KW valves and springs...Hopefully that is it for a few thousand miles...

As long as all the critical tolerances were within spec after rework, you should be just fine.
