Ok, I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I need to know...

How do you all secure footrest rubbers to the pegs so that they don't fall off? Same for the kicker rubber.

Do you guys glue them?

Again, it may sound like a stupid question, but I don't want to do something that will eat through or dissolve the rubber.

Thanks in advance.

If the footrest rubbers are loose enough that they slip off then they are either the wrong type, or overdue for replacement as no glue should be neceessary.

Glue won't hold a kickstart rubber as it's meant to turn. I've drilled and tapped the end of mine and fitted a small plate with a button allen screw. It did otherwise have the habit of flying off when wet.

I like 79x100's idea better than my old way of simply tightening a double wrap of safety wire around the ends of the rubbers, it works but look rather.......cobby?

but then it IS British, and 40 years old, so lots of bodges!

Maybe not exactly proper but I use a small amount of gasoline to lube the rubber then it just pops on very easily. The next morning it is on there really good. To remove pry the rubber away slightly and reapply the petrol. Does not seem to affect the rubber. I think I am on my 3rd set in 39 years. Also works on handlebar grips.

It should not be necessary to do this to the KS rubber. It is supposed to be loose and rotate and is held on by the outer lip. Sometimes the KS lever pivot stop is bent which causes foot force to push outwards on the rubber.

Ha, I'm in the camp that KS cushion almost slips off on each kick needing hand jam back for next go if I don't want to take the bare peg. Last time I was in slight rain and almost couldn't get purchase to start with or w/o the darn cushion. I may try the bask up washer or peg though the rubber but can't be stick up much or may slice the foot that feeds it. I've had a bead of weld spit on them then ground bad a bit to get less slide off angle and I've even bent the foot peg into a slight dished-U shape, which actually does help, somewhat. I grind off the fold in stop to get the peg to tip in enough to miss my calf. Other times I just place it back and rest heel on it.

Past drops can angle the rider pegs back to assist the slide off creep. That is brutal business to set more right again.
