Stupid boy

I know someone who is progressing with a carbed 961.
The new owner of my bike actually.

Taking it slowly as he is also getting his head around the FI as well now with PowerCommander etc so not as desperate.

Anyway...this is the parts list so far
Keihin FCR 39..lots of jetting to be done
CDU pickup from Triumph Scrambler
Different/programmable igniters/coils (dunno maybe he is just hedging bets there)

No immobilisers/tricking ECU so that's good at least

If i learn anything more will post but he is more into fixing the engine bearings right now.

The right guy for my bike. Competent, not stressed and doesn't need to ride often.

Eureka!
That's phenomenal news.
Is the "someone" a member of this forum?

No.
He's barely sending texts to my mobile :)

There’s a few nutters on here (I’m one) who would VERY much appreciate any info you or your mate can give us on this carb project of his as he progresses.

I already have carbs sorted, but frankly, that’s the easy part and I am at a loss as to what to do with the electricary side of things.

Being a bit of a Luddite, I’d like to simplify AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Well almost, I wouldn’t want points! But I would want to make as many of the sensors on the engine as possible redundant.

If it helps him, please forward the carb settings I posted earlier, these were from Kenny Dreer, so should be, at the very least, a pretty bloody good starting point.

Please keep us in the loop.

Well tell him you found a forum with several minded fools who also like the idea of a 961FCR.
Sounds like a really cool retrogressive variant of the Command line.:p

Will do - promise.

But there won't be anything rapid.
He's just tinkering as a semi retired bike shop owner/mechanic so the Norton isn't his "daily rider" or anything like that.

I think once he opens the engine to check a noise he will see how the pickup could be placed.
Carbs and settings are the easy bit to worry about later.

I put it as a 50/50 proposition at best that things will progress but will encourage a bit. ;)

I can wait.
I've made bets with odds that were worse than 50/50.
A glimmer of hope at least, that warms the heart of this old carb guy.
