Anyone got an opinion or experience with what a Commando can and can't be expected to do in the stunt department like seen by manics on moderns? I think its just stoppies myself but drifts and spins, wheelies and maybe 1st barrel roll are with in its potential to master and display, if modified a bit. Any evidence of other golden era Brit bikes doing stunts other than police formations? Which would still be entertaining to see here--- Matt?

My Combat can do wheelies, but I'm not the guy that can carry one for a quarter mile or whatever. I don't do stoppies, and have never had the slightest interest in trying one on ANY bike, although I know my ZRX is fully capable (it's also far batter at wheelying than the Combat)

OH ugh no way I'll risk camera on helmet stunting, seen how helmets suffer my fates. What I think I can get away with on un-linked Comat is the spin up snatch around while standing next to it. I know real Combats can wheelie, either taking off or at end of power band in 1st/2nd. But all of mine expect at a drag strip were accidental and not in place to stay that way. At least the oiling system will allow it while my SV650 and others can oil starve. I know un-linked Combat can flat tracker drift wide on spun rear crossed up, if not on too lumpy loose stuff or on nice pavement. I don't think HD's can stoppie on the level either. Here's some flavor of skill I'd like to develop on a linked Commando with power to spare and big ole rear sprocket.

Btw a car chase on an earlier Cdo would be supreme skill and balls for me to even think about.

ALrightty Mark! That's the stuff that excites me to see on vintage cycle. Lots of tire noise and above all else the straight steering he's able to take advantage of, very cool, thanks. Has to use rear brake apparently as not enough torque or big rear sprocket to break loose some times.
Heck the supermotards mostly have to break to back into apexes too but some can power rear around. I want to too.

That was me on the BSA, but I never posted it because I knew that L.A.B. would just kick it to other bikes.

Are you pulling our legs Herman? Thats some ballsy riding antics and one of the few riding videos I can study for my own needs. Do or did you recognize how you were working the forks or rather you balls to go in harsh enough the forks steered them selves half the time.

Here's about the easiest one to start with. I've left smiley faces with SV650 but only one circle with past Peel as tire wear is rather high. Done inside cycle shop on smooth is easiest surface but oh the smoke and fumes. Half fast attempted on Trixie but didn't have the guts to shock drive train by really rev up to dump clutch, still haven't but if right low traction pavement area presents,... Doing it on grass or gravel is easier to start but suddenly a lot harder to control.

I'm drawn like moth to flame but its not something I've done all my life so pressing myself to catch up on what I missed out. I don't know what I can get away with as most of what I have was forced by crisis. I crashed a bunch on THE G... d/t this flipping in and out of straight steering depending more on traction states than forward speed. Anywho I'm glad this post pulled out your hidden ability-attitudes to share with the world before we've done. Will watch some more till it sinks in to my own attitude.

That's a neat bit of riding Mr D.
I don't think LAB would mind seeing that. It is British after all!

Burt Murone said 5 min on his salt lake racer was worth a life tome of most other rides.
A birsk ride on THE Gravel is worth a few race upset worries I can tell ya. One ride trying to control Cdo flopping on hey ain't worth it again to me. Which brings to mind how the heck you learn to squeal tires and spin around cones w/o hurting something or some one. I don't know if a factory Cdo could tolerate some the sharpnees and loading Diablouph slam bammed us with on a Beezer.
