Stolen Black Norton Commando 750 -73

Hello Rolf
I met you at the Classic TT in the Isle of man a few days ago at the Glenlough campsite. Your tent was next door to ours. I have the black MK3 Interstate that had done its camshaft in getting to the ferry and was parked up all of race week (it reduced my son and myself to using the IoM public transport all week) You came over to chat when we were packing up on the Friday morning. I hope you got home ok and it sounds like you might be getting close to getting your bike back, fingers crossed.
As there is no direct ferry crossing to Norway from Britain I have a question as to what route you took to get home? I toured Scandinavia On a MK3 a couple of times back in the early 1980s including going to the Britti Ralli in Finland a couple of times.

Hog keepers with metal scrap yards in Arkansas got private subsidies not to sell off all the huge hungry ones even their big dogs avoided the pens. About only real protection of our light wt. Cdo's is not letting anyone know you got em or where they sleep. A rural area helps ya can hear deer approach and all the firing lanes kept clear. Wes and I have to leave ours in plain sight time to time on light traffic hwys but by and large most the guys with pu's would rather get off rescuing ya than taking from ya. Location matters. Years ago [ before Commando ] I parked my Suzuki 500 outside a movie theatre, and when I returned some little prick had pinched my hand pump, [ the genuine one the fitting in brackets on the frame ]. In those days you had to lock you bike up inside your house or the !!bikies!! would pinch it just to get the cables and all the stuff you could not get in a hurry. Those were the days. thought the rice burners were kind of ok then.

Hope you get you bike back. Follow all those leads. Hopefully when the bugger gets caught he might get some of his own gear rearranged.

Hope they catch the mongrel/s. I had a similar problem and offered a $5,000.00 reward leading to a conviction. The type of people you are dealing with will fall over each other to get the money. I had a drug addict turn up at the local Police station to collect the reward money with photos of the culprit in action. The Police "fixed" the problem behind the scenes, never went to court, no conviction, I never paid a cent but got the perfect outcome. Just a thought.

Are you friends with the local bikie gang leader ? - that helps. I don't associate with them much, however I just keep in touch from time to time.

Yes of course I remember you and your fine Commando.
We took a ferry from Immingham to Gøteborg and Brevik. A ticket both ways cost little more then £500 whit food and cabin. It`s DFDS.
Brevik it`s not more then 10 min from where I live.
I have a small "apartment" over my shed and you are more then welcome to stay a night ore 10 if you plan a tripp to Norway.

My Commando is back. Looks ok, but I have to see tomorrow.
An old friend of mine heard some talks about the bike. He heard they talk about where it was.
Picked it up 2 hours ago.

What a relief! I'm sure most everyone out there was holding a collective breath waiting to hear the final outcome. I'm very happy for you! Can you give any details as to how it "re-appeared" without getting anyone in trouble? I'm just being nosy...

Having been violated in a similar way with a similar outcome, I feel your ups and downs. It shows that assholes are a global problem. I have now installed alarms based on tilt switches with a piezo screamer (alarm). If you pick the bike up off the side stand, it triggers and makes a 120 db plus screech that makes it physically painful to be close to it.

Do not bother with chains or locks. I have a hand operated hydraulic cutter that will decimate the best hardened chains and locks in seconds without a sound. Thieves can and do buy the same technology.

If you like your bike, you need to make it harder to take. Sad but necessary these days.

Congrats, hope your bike is ok, Nortiboy I'd like to know more about your " tilt activated" switch. My friend who restores Indians uses a similar idea with a mercury switch, is that what yours is? & where did you find the screaming horn? I'm thinking about looking into " Low Jack" or similar. I would like one that sends a GPS signal to my phone also. Anyone know about this???
 
Congratulations on an EXTREMELY RARE return of a stolen bike.

You should immediately buy $100 worth of lottery tickets, you have a MUCH higher chance of winning than having gotten your stolen motorcycle back! I am NOT exaggerating.
 
Interesting. Always park in a well lit area when out n' about. Indoors or covered at home. Know your local thievery types. Stats show Jap mustle machines the ones they want.
