Hi!
My fab Commando was stolen outside of our house saturday at 04.30 in the morning.

Reg. number: NR 4872, just been on the roads for a week.
I live in Norway Telemark in the town of Porsgrunn.
Black gastank, new seat, front and back mudgards are stainless. Single Mikuni carb, old Lucas back light, and single front disk brake.

Please spread it on the internett

Thanks
Rolf-Eigil

As I was growing up I learnt 3 things:
1. Never hurt an elderly person or a child
2. Don't hurt taxi drivers
3. Never fuck with someone's bike.
Each would see you in a concrete barrel in the middle of nowheresville at at least 72inches below sea-level

I hope you get your bike back, and the low life gets his just rewards.

Many years ago there was a local bike thief round where I live.
One day he was out on his Commando (ironic) and the rear brake cable snapped, pedal dropped, jammed into the road, causing him to fly off the bike hit a wall and die.
My how upset we all weren't.

In Norway !!

Goodness I would have thought you would be OK up there.

Very sorry to hear that. I had mine stolen once - I did get it back but they had made a mess of it and it took a lot to repair all the damage.

I dont know what sort of message system you have up there but down here in NZ with a similar smaller society there is a lot to be learnt from putting the word out amongst the clubs and the mechanics who deal with older British bikes. Photos and numbers.

Plus watch the local intenet for parts. Make yourself very well know at the local police station.

Hope you get some luck

John

Sorry to here about the bike. How are you able to determine it was taken at 4:30? Did they get it started and you heard them ridding off with it?
I have had things stolen over the years somethings I got them back most I did not. As it has been said get the word out to as many people as possible. Bike clubs, bike shops doesn't matter if they specialize in just British bikes or not any motorcycle related business.
Hope you get your bike back and that the perpetrator gets what he deserves.

That's a heart breaker, 1 week of riding and now this. Hopefully the Norwegian Norton community is small enough that it becomes obvious who the culprit is. If you could google search "Norton Commando owners in Norway" and they all showed up on a map it would probably narrow the list of suspects quite nicely. Good luck with it.

Would be good to post the engine and frame tag numbers in case its parted out which is what I'd do for more money and less detectable criminal. Leaves us all hollow and burning hair roots to toes nails thinking of ours stolen. Wes and I have steal our nerves to leave ours often enough with a flat or something in plain view 'long' periods on hwy with passing PU trucks with couple robust guys in them and guns they use to shoot up signs with to boot.

Sounds like working with your local police you can find him and the bike.... in bocca al lupo ....as the say around here to mean good luck......but lets hope it is the thief who finds himself in the mouth of the wolf...

In Texas, we hang horse thieves. The low-life that stole your iron horse is no better.

what about guys who claim to be expert restorers and take peoples hard earned cash for amateur jobs - that must be OK in your part of texas

That really sucks. At least you have some leads, so keep your hopes up. My BSA was stolen in 1970, and with it all the $$$ I had saved while in 'Nam, so I can fully appreciate how you feel.

Sure hope you get your Norton back. I didn't.
Sat with 3 Norwegians at sunday diner in Bremen, wouldn't have been you?

I feel your pain, I had a Kawasaki 1981 GPZ1100 stolen when I was living in New Orleans, cops did not seem interested in helping find it and it never turned up, probably chopped up in bits while the exhaust was still warm.

I hope you find your Commando.

Hi Again!

To day the police phoned me and told they have found pictures of my Commando on the phone to one of the persones they have in arrest :P
I realy feel that I come closer and closer to the bandit.

I hope you are close to finding it unharmed ;)

Next time find somewhere to lock it up out of site, I had a TR6 stolen from outside my house too, last bike that ever got parked on the road overnight garage or no garage.

I really hope you get your Norton back & in one piece. I understand the pain & frustration of having a bike stolen.
They used to hang horse thieves, perhaps they should bring that back for the scumbags who steal the modern version of the horse.

I hope you find your Commando.

I lived in NOLA in the 80s. The cops and their cousin probably did the chopping after thrashing it.

In Alaska, we feed 'em to bears.

I hope you get the bike back in one piece. Send the thief to Alaska (or Texas) and we'll take of him.
