Hi everyone!
I'm at the stage of hopefully getting My 74 850 Cmndo together before the winter is over, and I'm thinking I'd like to go back to my original handlebars (which dissapeared in '74)
and that was pretty well the last time I thought about them.
Are one of you gents able to tell me which bars they might have been?

Thanks much

Good links above from L.A.B. Where are you and your snorter because if it is in North America lots of 'em got the American bars. The high rider bars went to the same overseas market for that cool chopper look that was so popular. European bars went all over the place methinks. Personally I find the Amer. bars too wide, the h.r bars too cool/greasy for this wimp. Enjoyed trying the Euro bars alot so settled into them to this day. Have tried flat bars and with risers in my yout. So if you can sit on other owner's bikes first ,fitted with differing handlebars first this will help you decide which are for your body type, and riding style. Don't forget to order in appropriate cablelengths for your bar choice order. If you are going concours retoration on this stick to genuine Norton bars n' cables. If riding then order in more modern cables. Good luck ,peter

I like the Euro bars as well. They have about a 2 inch rise compared to the North American bars which are over 4 inches I think

The 'Export' bars I got from Walridge have about a 4" rise. My originals had about a 5" rise. I do like the looks of the 'Home' bars, but it means changing all the cables and at my age I'm not sure how I'd like that low position. Fair Spares (Phil) has a stainless bar if you don't mind the price. I thought about it for about a week.

Dave, I have the same issue trying to replace my original bars that were bent when I laid the 850 down in Sept. The "US" bars I got from OldBritts are an inch shorter than what I had (see below). The British Cycle link looks like they'd be a bit taller than what I got, if these don't feel right I think I'll try a set.

My original bars were bent on one side too, I think from running into a wall with one side as I remember and a little beat up after 40 years, some of the chrome was gone. Too long ago. I really don't mind the look of the shorter bars though, doesn't look so much like a tiller. It is noticeable, but nothing like the very early HD bars that came straight back at you. If I wanted I could straighten them and get them chromed, but hardly worth it for the expense, I'd rather have a new alternator.

Probably all the new bars are the 4" ones.
