TC and John are also really nice guys. No big heads there. The AMA was wrongfully slow to put him in the Hall of Fame. This was because drag racing was not AMA sanctioned and also, as everyone knows, Harley Davidson has a lot of influence in the AMA. TC and John were just a few miles down the road from Milwaukee and were a thorn in the side for Harley. They weren't bashful about it either. Harley dominated drag racing until John and TC took over and kicked everyone's butt for 5 years. It took years of constant harassing by friends and fans to get them to put him in. It is still a bad mark for the AMA that John isn't in. I have met a lot of smart people in my life and John is on my " 5 smartest people that I have ever met" list
(probably top 3) . After John sold Sunset Motors to TC he was a rep for Berliner (pretty sure it was Berliner) and called on the shop where I worked and raced out of. He would always have a new modification to share with us for our Brit bikes and the Bultacos.
If you are ever near Kenosha, stop in and see TC. TC still goes to the shop in the afternoon. It is an old school shop and he is also a good source for parts. He also sells a nifty decompressor for easier starting of your Commando.
