I have a 1972. The PO had removed the steering lock. I would like to replace it mainly for cosmetics, but to also stimmy the casual bad guy. I bought a 03-0175 but the diameter is too large to fit. Looking down the hole, it is almost like looking down through an ignition switch. With grooves and such.I was thinking that maybe the shell of the old lock could still be in there but it all looks like cast. A lock shell should be more metallic or at least not alluminum gray. Any ideas?

Thanks

It does sound like the shell is still in there. It is a dull grey pot metal color. Rather soft material. It should drive right out pretty easily with an appropriately sized drift (or socket).
