Hi guys, I have the primary apart on the 75-850. My stator wires are the same color. I cut the insulation down about an inch and still green - yellow. I marked the wires with tape, but when I pulled them out of the case bullets tape and all came off. dummy, dummy, dummy, None of my other stators have the same color wires. What wire gos ware? THANKS for any help Phil

Are you sure they're both green/yellow? In the dim light green/white and green/yellow can look awfully similar. Anyway, on a stock bike running a zener & rectifier the green/white goes to ground and the green/yellow goes to white/brown. If you're running a regulator (box), both will go into the yellow leads from the box itself. Hope that helps.

acadian, I got alot of light still looks yellow- green. Ill cut some more insulation back once. Thanks Phil

The two stator wires go to the rectifier, doesn't matter which is plugged in place of the other because that is AC.

Jean's right. Would of been less confusing if both wires were the same color. Stator puts out ac current, alternating between negative and positive, so it's impossible to hook it up wrong.

Firstly, one of the MkIII's (RM23) stator wires shouldn't be "Green/White"! It should be WHITE/GREEN - a white wire with a green tracer! So the difference between a white wire with a green tracer and a green wire with a white tracer ought to be reasonably apparent,- even if the white looks yellow? And in any case as others have said, the stator output is AC.

Not on any Commando model I know of?

As "green/white" [GW] (green wire with white tracer) is the Commando right hand direction indicator/blinker circuit wire colour, - and that includes the 850 MkIII.

And "green/yellow" [GY] doesn't connect to any "white/brown" (or even 'brown/white') wire, as both green/yellow and white/green (RM21 & RM23) stator wires connect to the rectifier AC terminals. An additional GY wire would normally connect to either pre-MkIII or MkIII type assimilator units. Both assimilators also have a white/brown [WN] wire connected to them, but the GY and WN wires are not directly connected to one another.

THANKS EVERYONE, Ill replace the bullets and get back at it.Got my sprag from Old Britts hope that never gos out again. Gearbox is back in with new supperblend layshaft bearing. I call that job stress relief. I would hate to lock up at any speed. Phil
