Can I check my stator for internal shorts usuing my multimeter? I read the manual and could not make any sense to me
as I am no electric wizard. No voltage reading off the wires coming off the alternator when running.Took off outer
primary cover and no visible signs of broken wires or meltdown. The alternator is a single-phase running with the stock
zener and rectifier.Any directions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

I don't know said the blonde bumping ears on shoulders, but each lead should read similar on earthing to frame and both together should show some dozens of ohm if the wires intact not shorting, which would give very low ohm. If you ain't getting voltage out with magnet spun inside there is nothing but bad stator can do that. ugh. Where and why it ain't, shorted or broken, who cares if its burnt toast.

If checking the wires from the stator before the reg/rec unit, be sure to set the meter to AC not DC. AC going into the reg/rec from the stator, DC coming out of the reg/rec unit to the battery.

Thanks for that as I had the meter on DC !! Will put it back together and try again.

The alternator is putting out about 25-27 volts at 3000 rpm. That apparently is not my problem.I just installed a
podtronics regulator-rectifier and took out the MC2 capacitor.I disconnected the blade from the zener and connected
the two brown-blue blades together that went to the capacitor. There were also 2 red wires (ground) that were on the
capacitor.Should I have done anything with those? All my wires and connectors look good throughout the charging
curcuit.I just dont know what I have overlooked.
Thanks
Mike

Simple as pie, stator wires go the pod's yellar leads and the red pod wire goes to red=Earth side of battery and black pod lead to battery black neg terminal. The blue cap is like a tiny second battery hung of on the side via parallel connection so if removed don't put its two leads together leave em apart or more like a dead short.

Steve,
without connecting the 2 brown -blue wires together at the 2MC capacitor together,no power gets to the master
switch.I am asking about the 2 red wires that were connected to the capacitor as a ground.

The hole next to the clipped off corner at the top of the pod bracket, is where my ground installs. I need to remove the powder coating first though. Not sure if that is where yours should go, might be worth a try. Good luck.
