sometimes the lever won't move when i kick it. if i tickle i a bit it works the next time. i guess nothing is wrong but i don't know why it does this. something to do with TDC i guess.
so my question is,

(duh)
why does it do that?

starting question from an old new guy

Could be the ratchet/gear condiction ,the kick start ratchet tooth/gear get's worn and the teeth jam direct on "top" of each other.Rocking the bike [in gear] normaly frees the position ? Doe's not happen all the time...right?
If the kick start still locks with the clutch pulled in its sure to be the ratchet/gear.

OMG! as every one gone away, i would have expected lot's of suggestions :)

The engine compression seems to lock my kickstart solid at times.

I can't say that I've never been able to push it over TDC, it may not want to, but add 195 lbs and it goes.

OMG, JRB! :p
I guess i don't quite understand the issue. I am confuse if it is a ratchet issue in the kickstart assy., too much compression, a tooth catching in the primary? Timing?.............?.................?..............?
Or maybe just another Norton anomaly.

Are you saying that you have to bump it a little past TDC before you can kick it through?

if so...... there's nothing wrong with that.
