I would like to get a tail bag that will attach well to the back half of the stock seat on my '73 Commando Roadster. I am looking at the Dowco Fastrax, the Tourmaster Select, the Cortech Super 2.0 24L and some others that are in the 20 to 30 liter range. My criteria are:

easy on and off
secure when on
aesthetics that fit the bike, at least somewhat
holds shape even when not fully loaded

i might consider a tank bag if i can really be confident that it won't scratch the paint.

any thoughts or suggestions?

all input appreciated!

thanks!

Richard

Problem with the Commando is that you're dealing with the rear fender, frame loop, grab rail and tail light. No place to securely anchor something. Cortec has a nice set of soft bags that straddle the seat that I use for travel. My rear bag sits on a custom luggage rack.

I wouldn't mind a rack it if were unobtrusive. When i got the bike it had one that was really big and ugly so I took it off immediately. Where did you get yours? Do you have pictures of it on the bike?

thanks so much!

A little on the expensive side although these bags are IMHO worth every penny - REALLY well made. Bags Connection stuff are generally the best bags I've used in entirely too many years riding and I have the Slipstream for the Norton and two others of different sizes for the GS.

The Slipstream is a perfect fit on the back of a standard Commando seat and even gives you some lower back support. It holds its shape perfectly, full or empty, which is a major plus for me, and doesn't flap about like some bags do.

Of course, YMMV.
