Springtime in the Rockies!

Britjunkie and I took a ride up our favorite pass the other day and ran out of road! Lots of snowmobiles taking off from the gate marking the end of our pavement. Looks like it may be a few more weeks for the 10' of snow on the 10,000' pass to disappear. It's great living in a state like Utah any time of the year, but it's better when the best cycling roads open up! That's Britjunkie's red Sport and my black SE.

As I've mentioned before on this forum and also was quoted in the recent Motorcycle Classics article on my 961, the 50 USA SE's were delivered without unique SE numbers, the number plate on the right side of the triple clamp being a duplicate of the left side Donington Hall plate. This was due to a factory screw up in the issuing of the 200 worldwide SE numbers, according to Matt Capri of South Bay Norton. I was very upset about this, including complaining to the factory on this forum, which from what I can tell is why the factory issued after-the-fact number plates. However, I'm not sure they are unique, as mine says 1 of 50 USA, and I suspect they are all the same. I guess it's possible that mine is uniquely #1 of the USA SE's, but I doubt it. Here is the letter from SBN along with the new nameplate they sent me. In the end, the 50 USA Special Editions are not as "special" as the other 150 world wide! Time will tell what this does to the resale value of the USA SE's. A pox on Donington Hall!!

PS - all that being said, I love my bike!

Congratulations. Squeaky wheel get the oil. As for "uniqueness", you paid for the cooler parts. Considering the price the Domi Racer was fetching for its uniqueness, you got off easy. Maybe you will still fetch a few extra quid for a resale. Enjoy the bike and worry about that later.

It's a 2015, crated at the factory on 3/31/15 - with spoked wheels, upside down forks, radial racing brake, SBN Dominator exhaust, SBN X-pipe, and #91 map.

So far for the USA I have documented 1, 10, 12, and 44. If anyone hears of any others please let me know year and number at the very least. I want to track this to see if any overlaps pop up. There is a #1 2010 SE in Grimsby England. My goal is to find out if there are 200 or 250 SE's in the world. So far I have 63 SE's documented.

I agree with your appreciation of our 961's - but my Egli Vincent replica comes pretty close!
