Play along with me as we guess the model of Norton from graining photos from movies.

Spot that Commando!

For example they think this is a Norton. I suspect pre-unit Triumph as the gearbox is all wrong for an AMC box.

I don't think it's pre-war, it sure looks like a shock at the base of the swingarm there...

Holy Cow, don't you guys need to ride or something?

Too busy with 3 engine builds and my Triton project to keep up with servicing my rideable bikes. I've let the insurance and plates lapse on all but 2; one has a dead battery, the other needs the carbs cleaned after sitting too long.

Such is life.

Thats a ' Slick Shift ' pre unit Triumph . Motor / Box are closer together than Ridgid . Think the box is 58 to 62 .

Pre Unit gear levers were longer too , and the timing cover had a ' oil pressure indicator ' button . Which you could
kick into gear , and bend . Pulling in the Clutch , and engageing First , if you held the gear shift down , you
could relese the clutch lever, and sit there . With a throttle lock , you could then fold your arms , and gently let up
the gearshift , to engage the clutch , and move off . :P

The Outer assy of the oil press indicator will screw onto the Commando oil pressure relief valve , tucked in behind the
timing cover , its safe from your heel . Not that a Norton requires brute force to operate , A handy device.
Lets you know if you lost the grommet sealing the timing cover oilway , still indicates , but doesnt come out a lot. 8)
