speedo gear drive question

hello, i recently purchased a new speedo drive for my mk111. the new drive has the speedo cable connection on the top whereas my old one has the connection on the botton.can you change the connection with the blank on the the other end or should i just put it on with the cable connection on top. it's on the rear left side.

Sounds like the wrong part

Triumph tridents and Commando MKIII have the gearbox on the left side of the bike. The ports are reversed on those left side gearboxes (ports being the cable port and the end cap) The ports on the drive always go on the bottom of the hub and the cable port should face forward to determin which gearbox you have,..... be it right or left side...

I have reversed the ports on a gearbox drive to run it off my front wheel. I did it to mount cast aluminum wheels, so it can be done...
