Guys.Have no stripped my 70 Roadster.Even though the speedo/tacho looked good(6k miles) Ive bought an electronic setup.
Obviously now the rear speedo drive is redundant and has to go.However, the drive seems to keep rear wheel bearing in place.Easy job would be to use large washer, next to spacer. However a nice billet spacer slightly over diameter, and longer would be more asthetic. Not seen anyone who makes one.Any links ideas would be great.

Well my Smiths electronic P.O.S. system uses a pickup sensor that inserts into the Speedo gearbox. So you still have to use one of the problematic components that should have been eliminated. Good luck to ya.

I made my own. you will have to do the same . I use green globe Legendary Motorcycles

(GPS) gauges on 3 bikes

Have you specs on size.Bikes in pieces now.Just for info, front brake kit/Hub arrived today.I was like a 5 year old on Christmas day. Many thanks!

When I went with eSpeedo from Smith's I could not see keeping crappy gear drive to trigger it. Opted for magnet sensor. Glued ceramic magnet on hub. Sensor taped to inside of chainguard.
Spacers on right side still better than ug gear drive.

No.you will just have to measure up and make a bit of a sketch to machine to.

I to have a gps unit and not having a lathe at home i gutted the old speedo drive, keeping the felt seal and retaining ring.(and top hat spacer)
then ground, filed, sanded the protrusions from the old drive and epoxied a peice of aluminium in the left over space and ground it round.Bit of filler then a coat of paint.
looks original and idea being the felt seal will still keep shite out.
can find a photo if interested ?

and fit a dummy cable to keep the purists happy

Have to admit I didn't think about needing a spacer when purchasing the E-Smiths but can't be that hard to cobble up a suitable spacer though making an elegant one would take some effort. But heck, even some washers would work fine until I come up with something nicer!
