I think that the ' T ' mark is for ' Top '.
That way the production workers would know which way to put the head on the cylinder's.

You'd be in trouble then if someone in NZ had worked on it ??

That's funny!!!

Rohan,
Ha-ha. Actually Kiwi's are known world wide as top level craft's men. We are recruited by companies all over the world based on our excellent education system and sound practical abilities. Consider the Americas Cup tub's and crew and it was a Kiwi named Rutherford who split the atom. The battle of Britain was directed by a Kiwi too. McLaren F1 was inspired by a Kiwi. Konig race bike ? John Britten. The first bit of scientific test equipment used by NASA that wasn't American made was a Kiwi heat spectrum analyser. The list goes on. For such a small population we do OK.

The "T" stamped on the heads stands for trouble.
It's a RH4 head afterall.

You forgot the most important Kiwi at NASA.

When the first American satellite was launched just after Sputnik three men held a copy of it at the NASA press conference. Van Allen American, Von Braun German, and William Pickering New Zealander. It was his team that launched the first American satellite.

William Hayward Pickering, ONZ, KBE (24 December 1910 – 15 March 2004) was a New Zealand born rocket scientist who headed Pasadena, California's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for 22 years, retiring in 1976. He was a senior NASA luminary and pioneered the exploration of space. Pickering was also a founding member of the United States National Academy of Engineering.[1]

And we all know Watson and Crick got the Nobel prize for DNA right? Wrong !.

Three men were awarded the Nobel prze for DNA. Watson, Crick and Maurice Wilkens - a New Zealander. He just wasnt as good as his collegues at publicity !!

As you say the list can go on !

Has this thread turned into a pro kiwi thread because I recently had an issue with a supplier?
Quite frankly if this is the case, I couldn't give a flying whoot where someone is from if they rip me off!!!
I had an issue with a guy who just happened to be from nz. That's all. I'm actually married to a kiwi and as it goes, have a huge family of inlaws from all over nz.
Kiwis, skippy's, yanks and ruskii's,in fact all people from all nations- all have made great advances for the human race in the past 80 to 150 years.
I understand that tradition states that there is an informal "game" between kiwis and skippy's but as I have previously stated in other threads, WOULD YOU PLEASE TAKE RUSSELL FUCKING CROWE BACK

Now, the T stamp, what is it for?

Don't know about the T on your head, but seems to me the top of my left crankcase behind the cylinder ('72 750) has a "T" stamp.

Hmm interesting
Could it be that we have inadvertently stumbled upon someone's sick joke?
Perhaps it is that a long, long time ago, a triumph owner who was flogged in a drag race sought justice and revenge against the commando's of the world by traveling far and wide with a holstered lumpy hammer and a T stamp, delivering his trademark T stamp as recompense?
Hmm

Yes well - Even for NZers Mr Munro has to be regarded as a bit of an outlier !!

He came from Invercargil which is already a concern :-) (A kind of NZ version of the hillbillies of the Appalachian mountains)

Have you ever seen the frame of his bikes - or rather what was left of the frames after he stopped drilling holes !!

The scene in the film about tech inspection - the inspectors were right :-)

Nah. That's OK you can keep him.

But I would happily get John Clarke (and my son) back.

Sorry about the thread hi jack
