My 73 850 Interstate has one...
single carb. I haven't played with one of these since I had Bultaco's.
Are they worth leaving alone or should I look through my box's of sapre carbs for a good set of 932's? I have some and manifolds. Got some 930's as well...
I like the idea of a single on the Interstate, they make nice midrange...

Dirt bike carb!

Check it close, could have metering bits designed for flowing 2-stroke mix.

The Amal carb body is universal. That is to say that other than the stamping on the side, everything is interchangeable. The only hiccup is can think of would be the pilot jetting. This can also converted from the built in unit to the screw in type by drilling out the pressed in jet and screwing is a 25 ( or what ever you need) into the bottom of the float bowl where is belongs. I have gone from 30 to 32 and back again by just having the body on the shelf and swapping it out. The real issue is the condition of the bore of the throttle slide.

I think the spray tube is also different. And the screws I believe are metric. In addition to the screw in pilot jet mentioned before.

Is it a Mk I or Mk II Concentric?

I have three Bultacos, all with their original Amal MkIs... and I love them. Well, aside from having to clean the pilot jet when the bikes sit too long.

The M49 Sherpa T with the sleeved carb runs flawlessly.

This too is interchangable

I'll get a pic in a few...
Dosn't look like an Amal like on any of my Nortons or BSA's.
Squareish...
I'll get a pic.

Very true, but I think that is a press fit and has to be installed carefully, no?

Yes. Like for when you want to get rid of the 928/107 (split) for the 622/074(full).
A matter of tappy tappy out, tappy tappy in.

That's the one.

In that case, I ran a 34mm Mk2 on my 750 and found it to run well, but weak on performance. This was comparing it to a Mikuni 36mmVM which was great. I found this VM to be weak when compared to the 34mm TM flatside that I am running now which is as close to twin carb performance as I have found.
That being said, 2 32mm MK1's will kick the single MK2's. On the other hand, adding another MK2 would be a great option but may depend on the size of the MK2 that you have. Twin 34MK2's may be too big.

I'm more interested in developing this bike into a nice tractable road bike as opposed to a fire breathing bike. I have plenty of those. I'm going to build my 69 750 into something a littl emore sporty. This one will be for enjoying more leisurely days.

If this is your intention then I would say you are good to go. That single MK2 will serve you well. I am curious as to the size? I suspect 34mm.

In case of twostroke carbs, apart from the spray tube and the position of the idle jet, as mentioned above, the main jet holder is different too.
