You may already know this but I have an easy method to raise the back end of the bike for, say, wheel changing.
Put the bike on it's center stand. Cut two pieces of plywood approx 6x6 or bigger and set them down by each foot of the c-stand. Tip the bike away from you and maneuver the plywood under the foot. Go to the other side and repeat. And Bob's your uncle. It's just as easy to remove the plywood and set it back down.
Usually a 3/8 piece of plywood is enough.

By the way this also works with the bike in the Harbor Freight lift. You will have to loosen the strap on one side to allow it to tip.

If your centrestand length makes it awkward to actually lift, maybe you are using shorter shocks for example, then 2 pieces of suitable thickness ply under each wheel will allow the stand to swing down into the gap between them.

I don't think the OP's problem was using the centre stand, it was getting the rear mudguard high enough to get the wheel out from under it.
