I had three worn out bearing holes in a set of goldstar cases. After trying a couple of ways to take up the clearance I decided to trust them to a local business in Seattle called FLAME SPRAY. They end up blowing molten metal into the bores and bore them to the proper specs. The cost is expensive...$300 per side....but far cheaper than buying new Goldstar cases. Today I fit the crank with three bearings, bolted up the cases, and everything turns freely. Not bad for lining up three bearings dead on.
$600 for the whole job. I know this is a Norton forum but if you own some unobtanium cases with worn out bearing bores these guys did a great job.

That's really great news - could be used to repair Norton twin crank-cases to give the correct clearance on main bearings.
A lot of cases are "retired" due to too large clearance on main outers.
Cheers

...and a lot MORE of those clapped out cases are still rebuilt with J.B.Weld, various bearing adhesive products, hand "knurling", and other bodges...

Good to know. Virtually no good way to restore bearing bores that I knew of previous to this post.

Thanks. Your post is a good example of what this Forum is all about.
