I would say buyer beware with him!
had s similar encounter with him 10 years ago. What a "d--k"!.

I appreciate the heads up, to a degree, but the die-is-cast. Before I purchased Rocky point Cycle I spend 35 years screening engineers for positions in software development from the kernel to the API, almost 40,000 interviews; I made 3 mistakes in year one and two; I'm confident in my ability to judge character. Joel Levine didn't give me any reason to turn up my radar; my gut tells me that the way and manner in which you begin a transaction largely influences the outcome.

If my instruments function poorly when returned my approach to a remedy with be collaborative, not confrontive. If there is an issue and the situation gets as sour as you both have experienced I will report my lapse in judgement and offer to publically eat Humble Pie and do what I can to insure that no one else that participates in this forum gets burnt.

I am optimistic. Doesn't matter to me if my glass is half full or half empty, in either case I have more drinking to do...

Best.

The 2 tachs and the 3 speedos I sent Joel Levine came back last Tuesday, two days ago, total time from dispatch to receipt was 3 weeks and one day; if you discount the 3 days it took for Joel to receive my check, then about 2 and a half weeks.

The paint work on the buckets are as good as the day they left Smith's, new vibration rubbers, new mounting nuts, the 3 slotted screws are the originals, but well cleaned up, might even be new.

I spun all up, accelerating gently, and got smooth readings with no sign of bounce. The instruments came with diagrams detailing the the relationship between the length of the drive cable and the well in the instruments they fit into showing the measurements, but with the clear message that the drive cables must not bottom out; I knew this, but the documentation includes the dimensions.

The "warnings" I received appear to have some gravity; a web search seems to support the criticism, but reading the posts (not on this forum) raises the maxim: "consider the source", or more like "ready, fire aim". I am still inclined, however, to believe that approaching any business relationship where you establish common expectations and maintain a positive attitude will produce results equal to your expectations.

I'm very happy with the results and recommend the service.

Best.

I have gotten Smith gauges from a guy on eBay who sells under the name "A Private Peace." I believe he is in Portland OR. My stuff works great, but I have only had a few done. I will use him again. He works on an exchange/core charge basis, so you can get stuff right away. Here is a link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-No...381208?hash=item48e688f758:g:J7sAAMXQbBVRBZuF

There have been stories about that person for a while from people who know him.

That being said although I have not had anything rebuilt by him yet, I do know people who have, I would 100% endorse Greg. Not only is he in our Norton club but he's also one of the nicest guys I've met. I believe his mom worked at Smiths so it's in the DNA.

I had a couple done by this guy and never again. I could have done a better job crimping the bezel with a hammer and a punch. Nothing special there for me with his work..IMO

You always want to ask the person what they use to crimp the bezel on with. For example I believe Greg has the actual Smiths tool for crimping.
