Sleeving Concentrics?

Does anyone machine worn Amal Concentrics and install sleeved slides? Bruce Chessell has stopped doing them

I’d imagine the price couldn’t be too far off a set of new premiers- they’re the business! My commando and triumphs love em- what was the going rate for a sleeve/rebuild?

If google returns nothing, I doubt anyone is doing it anymore.

Doesn't work all that well unless chromed sleeves are used. I had it done long ago by Mike Gaylord Products with steel sleeves and it didn't work well for long. Either that or I just got tired of dealing with Amals. That should get somebody to say they've been using sleeved Amals for 400,000 miles without any issues.

If you think the carburetor bores are still roundish, eurojamb sells chromed slides that should work better than steel sleeved slides.

I still have the sleeved Amals in a box. Pack rat that I am. Also confident the guy that did them is not capable of or interested in doing that kind of work anymore.

What’s the price? I’ve got literally a milk crate full of dead amals- mite be worth rethinking the strategy if it’s cheap!

If you are going to keep and ride the bike new Premiers have a lot of nice features. Removable, easy to clean pilot jet, anodized slides, stayup floats, vitron float needles. Amoratize the cost out over years of trouble free riding. Cents per mile. The Wassel knockoffs work just as well just not as nicely finished.

All my bikes have the new Burlen carbs but it would be nice if they went to ally bodies on all their different models.
Yes you save a fair amount of money with the Wassels but keeping Burlen in business is probably
a worthwhile thing.

I agree! I actually first came to burlen for SU’s for my MG- first thing I ever bought from ‘across the pond’ it’s magical that you can just get new ones. Not the case with keihins, hitachis, some micks, and others. Keep ‘em going so we can keep ‘em going!

The 850 I have since 2011 came with Gaylord resleeved carbs, I am still happy with them.
This site (nortonnouveau) claims to continue resleeving after Gaylord retired.
Not sure how up to date.

Chuck them in the bin & buy a new pair of Premiers. They really are very good.
