Grooves Only Make Mo Power/Torque If You Are Willing to Run Engine just beyond ragged edge of detonation That would otherwise occure w/o the groove. Basically low rpm lugging and hi rpm higher CR or lower octane with boosted engines though some nature inspired dragsters dyno show some benefit. I did it to my side valve flat head mower and makes a deeper softer sound with less oil darkening and lugs as good or better than before. I made a crows foot, one long big groove fed by 2 smaller shorter ones. They claim less carbon build up in chambers too and why I added two more grooves after opening up to see the nice effect to expand on.
You can get too many grooves and power suffers to there is some scientific art trial and error involved.

My dad was sorely against m/c's and made me try to sell off my P!!, and might have to the Trident guys that came to check it out, so showed em + my father, what it could really do on last run by floating front level... By time I got the nil leaning Norton turned around they were gone. He said they didn't say anything but got the impression the P!! scared them. Hope you go so fast you can't ever get it out of your being.
