Piero ,those centers look real good . Hold them gently and give each one a tap with a spanner to hear if they hold a sustained ring sound. The soft type can give a metallic clunk sound. The bell -ring sound is the best one to use. Try it.

Some apparent surface corrosion, but the splines to not seem to be worn.

I think that was exposed a myth that only the hardened ones ring .

The one that is mounted looks better to me even though it has very slight grooves. The other seems heavily pitted and corroded.

A typical example of (hardened) clutch centre spline wear.

Doesn't look very hardened. Used the same process as some of the 850 camshafts? :(

Piero, if the centers you have are unworn, just use the best one. They might be soft, or they might be hard. It doesn't really matter, because you already own them. If and when the center gets notches, put your other one in. Between the two, they will last a long time.
