A gap under the seat of your motorcycle can prevent the motor from starting. I once road in a race, and my motor refused to start for the next race. I always start my 850 motor using the idle jets with the throttles closed. It will not start with the throttles raised. When I looked down into the carbs and raised the throttles, there was a small stone under one of them.
