Single carb vs single carb PER cylinder

I know we often debate single vs twin carbs on Nortons, but WTF debates do they have on the classic Mini FB page ??

That's not a stock head...all mini's had inlet/exhaust ports on the back of the head. There is a video of a similar configured min engine running....

Yeah - but to be fair, they put the distributor on the front of the engine so that it could have a good regular bath!

The K100 heads are the hot setup in NZ too.

If a person was a bit patient, they could make and match the needle jets using a flow-meter. Getting them all within the adjustment range of the needles might be a problem. The errors sizes might be difficult to live with.

Lots of people fit bike carbs on cars
But they are generally CV carbs
With the advantage of tuning each carb per cylinder

With no air slides I'm guessing it's 'pop the bonnet and give them all a tickle' time?

Years ago I met Baldo Meli. He used to work for the Triumph factory, and got a 12th in the Senior IOMTT in about 1948. - He said 'SU carburetors are good'. I thought was insane - but what would I know ? I found out that when tuning carbs, we need to figure-out what all the bits actually do - when they work and their effect on performance. Richer mixture gives more calories, but if the air-fuel mixture is not optimal for the situation and the gearing we use, performance can suffer. A single carburetor is easier to get really right than twin carbs.
