Sidecover Decal Placement

While my tank and sidecovers wait at the painters to get a fresh paint job, Im wondering about decal placement. I know where the "Norton" one goes on the tank, but the "750 Commando" ones on the sidecovers I forgot to measure and photograph. The bike is a '72 Interstate so the sidecovers obviously are the interstate ones not the roadster ones. Im just wondering exactly where and at what angles are the decals placed. I know that people run into problems when they align the decal with the top of the cover, which puts the decal at an angle when the covers go onto the bike. Does anyone have an answer for me, or at least some good pictures for me to look at?

Make sure your tank and sidecovers are fitted to the bike when you apply the decals.
Or you will never get them level to the ground.

I thought I might have to wait till they are on the bike, but I was wondering if there was a definite measurement anyways.
I have no problem doing it later on when the covers are on the bike. Thanks for the help.

Matt from CNW told me parallel to the rear loop. It worked for me.

I have my doubts that measurements will locate the decals accurately enough to look good.
You see so many decals that point uphill or downhill a bit.
While no biggy, it does distract a little from what could easily have been perfect if done by eye...

While 850 (and twin pinstripes, where the 750 had a single thicker pinstripe) there is nowhere convenient to measure from, all the edges are angled and curved, you'd need so many measurements to pinpoint anything.

The sidecovers, which is what you wanted - the bar under the word 'Commando' is 70mm under and paralllel to the crease on the oil tank side sidecover on 850 sidecovers.
Which are shown as the same part as 750 Interstate sidecovers.
Can't help with the other side, yet to find one.
