Side to side when braking

News, I took the bike to someone more talented on Nortons, with many years of experience, after a deep inspection he found that the head and weel bearings that had been changed in the past where correct, the fork was dismanteld too and some wear on the tubes was found, and now the discovery.. the bottom yoke had a 3mm. deviation! It was not straight.

Aother one he had from another bike has been fitted as well as a hydrolic fork brake, I can now pull the front brake as hard as i want, without any wooble, the yoke was definetly the couse.

I still get a reasonable wobble if I take one hand out of the handlebar can be compensated by a higuer adjustment of the fork brake which is now adjusted to position 3 out of 6.

I have to do more testing, like adjust the Hagons to the middle position for better suspension balance or try higuer fork brake adjustments which i will do as i get a full morning for them.

The change of fork stations and the installaton of an overhaul fork kit was recomended which I will do in the future for further imorovement.

I can ride the bike with no fear now.

Thank you very much for your ideas, they have been of great help!!

I'm actually surprised.

Usually when the yokes are bent the forks have a lot of stiction.

Perhaps the stantions are also bent to compensate.

I agree, this is why Jesus (the Norton engineer) advise me to change them.

The necessary parts i understand are:

06.3423. Fork stations (2 units)
06.7092 Fork overhold kit (1 unit )

Am i correct with this references or do i need something else?

Regards

Yes those numbers are correct on the Andover Norton site.

Get the real more expensive stantions from Andover because some cheaper ones are poor quality.

Was your mechanic ok with the sleeved fork slider?

I will get them from AN, thanks for your imput, I have decided not to wait to a seal failure to change the parts, I dream about having a the fork fully straight to see if I can get the bike to run stable when I take a hand off the handlebar for some reason.

The sleeved fork slider he said he was confident it was ok, I supose it will be something to look at if the new stantions and overhoul kit does not cure the remaining problem

Regards
