The mounting/attachment point on the frame for my side stand on my '72 C-do is bent pretty nastily according to my brother. The attachment point is on the inside of the lower frame in comparison with the outside on his '74 850.
I'm wondering if there is some sort of mod I can do,besides heating and bending the bejesus out of the attachment point.

Ideas??

It sounds as if you have a 1971 model (probably titled as a 1972). These had the sidestand mounted with a pin and was inside the framerail and cross tube. These are notorious for breaking the pin or losing the retainer and dropping the sidestand at the most inopportune time!

A late style bracket can be welded on the outside of the frame. Old Britts sells a kit to do this. (http://www.oldbritts.com/ob_start.html) Check out the step by step on their site.
