side cover confusion

I recently purchased 2 side covers for my 72 Commando and they don't fit. Is it possible they are form an 850? Is there anything unique about the covers on a 1972?

Interstate or Roadster covers?

The fixing arrangement changed, and the 850 panels are not all the same, so the ones you purchased could be for a different year model.

If you can you post some photos, we should be able to identify them?

'71 to '74 roadster or interstate left side covers whether 750 or 850 should fit your '72 provided the 850 type are from a Mk1 (the type that uses the ham can air filter). Right side from '71 to '75 should all fit.
