He probably made it that nice

It is currently almost completely disassembled, sadly although i paid for an "older restoration" and it looked good at a cursory inspection, all i received was older.
Engine and gearbox were basically sound but everything else was completely worn out, and the paint job looked good but cough and the paint would fall off.
So i've been doing my bit for economic recovery of late (economic ruin according to my wife), should be on the road around about April at the current rate at which point i will forget about the $ and just enjoy  .

I'll give you $250 for the RZ...
Thanks for the offer...

I keep saying I'm going to part it out but I never get to it. It needs mega TLC. It really isn't very pleasant on the street, not much happens until 7000, then hang on. It has made some very respectable dyno pulls and had a nice howl. Now carbs need going through plus the usual lack of use and care issues. I keep thinking it would be a cheap track day bike for when I have time....

Waiting for some free machine time at work to sort the major issues out, then things should advance a bit faster.

I really enjoyed my '92 750SS. Comfortable, sporty, and nicely balanced bike. Loved that it would pull high revs. Still get angry when thinking about coming out of work to find that it had been stolen

Love the Duke, its another on my wishlist :)
Great bike, but really hard to behave on it   . Pretty damn close to perfect once the fueling/airbox/exhaust mods are done.

Thanks,

I miss it a bit. I bought her off a friend. She was purchased new from BCM here in New Hampshire when they first became a Ducati dealer. Always serviced by them. I had a Stage 2 Kit on it, 851 gold valved front forks, and a later Sachs/Ohlins combo set to my riding style and weight. I added a set of custom black braded brake and clutch lines, and was getting ready for a lightened flywheel and Brake Tech rotor before I sold her. She was on the Dyno for tuning, and ran sweet (Have the numbers somewhere here but IIRC 64 RWHP).

In then end, I needed cash and the Duc was a quick sell. I love all my bikes, but the Commando is the only one that will never be for sale.

Hi Fred and welcome,

I just commented on your Interstate on SD.net.

Some great people and knowledge to be found on this board. Some entertaining threads as well.

Similar mix of characters......you'll see.

Loads of nice bikes, I like Pbmw's & Mtl-marcs Harleys, you could do a lot with those...mmmm!
Here's mine, apart from my Commando.
1965 BSA A65 Lightning Clubman, didn't know it was a Clubman when I bought it, just bought a box of bits from a guy I knew, when I contacted the owners club to get details for re-registration, the dating officer called me... so here it is...

My other is a BMW R1150R Rockster Limited Edition 80, which I may sell on as I fancy an old Harley, but we'll see.

All Matchless singles. These usually get me to where I'm going... Riding a single is a bit different because you try not to back off the throttle very much.

My first Matchless, a '66 maybe really a '65 G80CS 500cc scrambler found at a yard sale in 6 boxes for $200 in 1978. I have a new seatcover but need to figure out what to do about the foam. These bikes are going for crazy prices now.

I bought these next two from DomiRacer around 1985. 2 for $1200.

The first is a '51 G3/L rigid 350 --- my favorite. This bike came from Singapore and was well clapped out when I got it. The ride is smooth as can be.

This one is a '61 G3 sold to the Dutch Army. Domi had a bunch of them and said they were found stored in a chicken coop in England. Dents and dings all over from throwing spare cylinder barrels into the ocean-going container when they were shipped. A bike that I don't mind leaving out in the rain but a great rider. Drove it from here in eastern PA to the Jampot Rallye in Massachusetts (and back) one year with tent and sleeping bag lashed to the rear carrier. Mostly 45-50mph. SS exhaust system from Armours turns straw colored with heat but matches the rest of the bike better than shiny chrome.
