Does the Sprint have the floating panniers system and what it like at speed with them loaded .... really like the sprint but was concerned with that system and no offers of test rides around here where I belong to ..... thanks
Craig

Yes, has the “floating” panniers but movement is only a couple of cm either way. Very stable at speed but fully loaded limits top speed to 140 (allegedly) easy at my top of 90 to 100! Heavy when loaded and moving around car park etc but once going it handles really well.

I ended up with the Ducati ST3s because of it’s light wieght and power character .... takes me a while to do valves and belts and is painful getting the plastics off and on .... ST has been trouble free for me over 60000kms .... never 2 up always solo on my long rides ... what the Sprint like to work on ..... thanks

I bought it new with a 3 yr service package thrown in and as it is just 3 years old I have not needed to work on it myself. That said, never gone wrong/lost oil/dead battery....so bloody reliable. The chain adjustment is a pain but only because the adjustment tool supplied is made from plasticine! (Single sided swing arm so concentric chain adjuster) This is my second one in succession (first was also new) and I traded the first in simply because this SE edition had full luggage set, heated grips, comfort seat, sat nav, higher screen and the service pack included all for just £8500 brand new. They even threw in the waterproof liners for the panniers. It is still worth around £6000 after 3 years so holds value well

The ZX-14, with nearly 80,000 miles on the clock, bit the dust last May and I replaced it with this:

I bought this one about four months ago, from a friend of mine who had taken it on a ride from here in Southern California to Alaska and back. It has 77,000 miles on the clock, and runs like new. It's a little heavier than I prefer, but very comfy to ride, and actually handles quite well.

I bought this one

I've got a '82 TDM850 and love it, but still dealing with occasional plugging of one or the other low speed jets due to the fact that it sat 5 years with the previous owner. By golly, I'm going to get that thing sorted THIS SPRING!!! Yours looks to be somewhat newer, very nice. 3rd easiest bike I've ever owned to top the ton, ZRX & Concourse just a light year ahead.

Yeah, this one is a '93 model. I've always liked them, and my friend was a pretty meticulous owner, the perfect person to buy a bike from. He had a custom Bill Mayer seat installed, which does wonders for long distance riding, and the deal included a large box of spare parts and a pair of hard-to-find mounts for Givi Monokey hard side cases, which I plan to add soon. When he dropped his asking price to $1900, I couldn't resist. Aside from the weight, which is only a problem when pushing the bike around for parking, the only issue I've noticed is the clunky shifting, but I'm getting used to that.

On Halloween day, guy in a C63 decided to pull a u turn right in front of me without looking. I t-boned him right on his front wheel and went over his hood and onto the deck and totalled my trusty old ST4s. The forks were bent well back, the tank displaced so much it bent the ignition key over 45 degrees, oil on the road... no blood though. Just sore and whacked my groin/nuts on the tank going over the screen and had a good bruise there... and a very sore throttle wrist still.

So I upgraded the Duc to a 2013 848 Evo. Has about 25mm of riser bars from stock, so it is not too uncomfy, a Termi exhaust+ECU and a nice Nitron shock on the rear. Nice and light and plenty of ponies.

Shame about the ST, but the 848 looks like a great replacement. I rode a friend's 1098 and every time I looked down,I could see the front tire. Guess I'm a little old and large for the sporty bike riding position.

Gortnipper,
Sorry about your luck. That makes my nuts hurt and I'm in a different part of the world. Heal well.

Looks like it has some nice aftermarket front rotors, too.

True. The originals got pretty worn, and he had bought these for one of his race bikes, but hadn't used them, so he installed them. They work very well.

Picked it up tonight and so far love it...

Got a thread going on the Royal Enfield section.

Cheers,
