got a couple of new jrc carbs installed on my '72 and i seem to have run out of adjustment to lengthen the outer. i need about another 3/8" and the barrel adjuster on the single is screwed out to it's max. any way to adjust this further? these are the original cables from the old amals. thanx, rick

hi rick, could it be a ferrule or maybe 2 of them you,re looking for, have a look on the norvil site under cables and fittings part no 026476 ,theres a pic there,it fits between the throttle body and the cable ,you could maybe fit 2 of them to take up the slack,i know its not ideal to fit 2 but it may get you up and running

thanx chris. good idea. actually i could make something like that in one piece. i figured initially to just make a longer barrel but then how would i get it on. somebody makes cables to length and i'll eventually go that route. got it started in the garage and fiddled w/ the idle as sheets of rain poured down outside. craziest year of all time for weather here. it idled beautifully tho, rock steady. saturday is supposed to be nice so i'll see how he does w/ the new carbs

I'm sure you used all the adjustments available? My cable also has one up by the throttle I had to use.

Venhill in the UK can supply a cable 'kit' which contains numerous types of cables, ferrules, nipples etc. I've found it very useful and have made a couple of throttle cables using the parts supplied (the only essential is a fairly powerful soldering iron). I'm sure an equivalent must be available in the US.

Cheers,

I love those make your own kits, I've not seen them over here for a few years though. I wonder if they are on Ebay?

I had Barnett cables maKe up mine in their maryland plant.
Quick turn around and spot on.
Same guys who make the clutches.
Very well made! You supply the length of freeplay(end of cable length sticking out past casing)
and over all length of outside casing and they will make up same.
Cost around $23-25 dollars per cable. About same from Andover so not outta align price wise.
Solved my issues. Stock cables were no letting slides rest on idle screws. Don't even know why?
got an extra 1/2" free play and I can adjust ferrules on top of carbs perfectly.
When a set of Amal slides drop you can hear them hit the stop simultaneously if you listen hard.
I can tell when 1 slide is higher than the other by lifting the slides w/ the throttle and slowly lowering till they stop.
If you get a double tap 1 is lower than the other.
