Shocks

How can I dismantle, mean release the spring, of a shockabsorber.

The complicated answer is that you buy (or make) a shock absorber spring compressing tool.

This is a long bar, that anchors into the top eye of the shock.
About 3 or 3 inches along the bar, a par of 'ears' pivot off the bar, with tangs that you push into the spring coils.With the base of the shock anchored into something, you press down on the bar, and it compresses the spring, so the collets can be removed.
If I can find it, could get a pic if any interest.

Don't know what the simple answer is - a strong pair of hands, a pair of tyre levers, and a helpful octopus to hold it all while you heave ??

P.S. Don't know what happens when you have all-enclosing tin covers on the shocks, and strong springs, that must be a juggling act ? Perhaps a pair of threaded rods, and some flat bar to press on things ???

Most of those fall into the very complicated category. !

Maybe the shop I bought this off should have patented it ?
(Although monoshocks can have very heavy springs...)

Will undo the spring on a Commando shock in about 10 seconds - once you have it off and have somewhere to anchor the base better than just on the carpet...

Thank you Rohan, this one seems to be the easiest tool to be build by my self
