Service / oil question

My bike just had its first service at Krazy Horse, all good, great guys!

But today I noticed on the receipt that I was only charged for 10w40 oil. No charge for any gear oil.

Is this because the gearbox and primary use the same 10w40 as the engine? Or do they not change the gear and primary oil at the first service?

Same oil, have a look at the quantity of oil they charged you for that will tell you whether they did both.

I can confirm that KH did indeed change the transmission oil on the first service.

When I drained it today, it was clearly brand new oil.

You can tell FE loves fettling. Why waste time on a phone call when you can drain, inspect and refill the gearbox oil?

I believe it was @Panetone who first put me onto Bel Ray Sport Transmission fluid a while back. It’s specifically designed for the task at hand. And it’s a nice colour.

I tried it for a while, but found the clutch to be draggy, and crunched into first gear when cold, so drained it and went back to Motul 10W40

Hi Cliffa , I remember you have worked on your clutch before. Did you replace plates and springs ?

Hi Tony, no I didn’t replace them. After going back to 10w40 I’ve had no issues since.
