Hi all, my 72 Roadster has a home made seat that came with it, its of a later style and its hard as......
I picked up a basket weave seat that is most likely original but its equally uncomfortable.
Are they not that good to start with or just old ( I'm used to BMW comfort .... )

Thinking a new foam and cover for the basket weave one and maybe make up a single cafe one out of the other.
The ones on Ebay look ok but I'm suspicious of them being from the far east....not suited to us more robust riders...ahem...
Does anyone do new foam squabs?
or do I just need to take concrete pills

New seats from England are about $330 USD and are only marginally better when new. The last one a mate bought the lettering on the back was off center. Have a local seat monger build you a new foam using yours as a pattern.

Should be able to get a BMW one cheap , to chop up , then ? .
The HD chip foam underlay stops you ' bottoming ' out . If used under a foam whatsit . Try a wrecker for ' Any old seat ' to butcher for parts .

Original seat was pleated. Basket weave is '73. I couldn't find a good after market cover that was even close to original, so ended up finding an original in excellent condition.

I had a local upholstery guy take the cover off and install a gell pad. It works really well.

You might give Russell a call. Long distance tourers I know swear by their Russell Day Long seats.

Anyone tried the Commando seats on German ebay ?
Quite a pronounced raised bit on the end.
An Interstate version of it there too...
