Any else noticed that the search function up the top right is sometimes near useless ?
And the advanced search is the same.

For example, if we search for 'new hydraulic cam chain tensioner'
( a current posting here, 2 or 3 topics from the top)

it comes back and says
"No posts were found because the word new is not contained in any post."

If I search for 'What else do you ride'
it comes back and says
No posts were found because the word what is not contained in any post.

Something deeply wrong somewhere.
Needs a new camshaft installed in it, thats for sure.
Or perhaps an old one, so it can find it...

Or, just perhaps, is this a one word search function ??

if the search engine worked (and people used it) there'd be few new post as in reality 90% of every topic/ thread have been beaten to death

I searched both those and got plenty of results starting with the current cam chain tensioner thread.
Make sure you tick the Google box.

Note the second result for 'search engine besides finding this thread immediately.
Vbulletin sites in general have trouble searching their own forums where Google will find near anything because of the roaming bots.

Search engine deficiencies ?

Best i can determine the forum seaches only look at text and not subject lines and as everyone already knows the subject line that is rarely repeated in text so is missed by forum sercher. I have much better luck with key words in google or other searchers. If your post has important references and feedback better repeat your subject line inside the text box at least once.

I either get a "no hits" message or "1 of 10000000"...

But after a few searches I can usually find what I'm looking for. So fun to be lazy and just fire up another thread.

It has some words it stumbles on. I don't know why. It doesn't like numbers either. Type in "850" and it says it doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure it does. But usually I find a way around to find the the thread. As in the example "New Hydraulic Cam Chain Tensioner". Try "Hydraulic Tensioner" and it comes up first hit. The Google search is also a really good way around it. I find the advanced search to be most useful when I am seeking a post by a specific author. Such as "hydraulic" by "comnoz".
