Hi
Looking for a source for a sealed battery for my Mark lll.

Any suggestions will be welcome.
Cheers!

Chasesa,

You'll want to get the biggest battery that will fit in your Mk3. I installed a Yuasa YTX20CH-BS in my Mk3 two years ago. It gives you 18 V-A and 270+ CCA in a 6-0" x 3-7/16" x 6-3/8" package. This battery fits tightly (ok, I needed a very small "adjustment" on the lower front lip of the cage) but well. AGM technology. You might be able to find something a bit more performing now, but the package size quoted above is the maximum that will fit without reworking the cage. I got it at PowerSports (at my door in 2 days) for about 100 bucks, including shipping. Starts instantly, each time, every time, regardless of temperature, with a single touch of the green button.

You won't get 270 cranking amps from an AGM battery that fits without modification , but you can get 210 CCA these days with this one (ETX15L). It is sold under different brands but the mod. no. stays the same.

It is a form, fit replacement for the original Mark 3 battery and is a "dry" AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery. I use this battery and the nice thing about it, besides the fact that it fits without any mods and the fact that it has no liquid in it, is that you can just leave it on a battery tender all the time and it doesn't seem to hurt it . I was skeptical when the guy told me at the battery store I bought it at, but apparently snowmobile and jet ski people do just that.

montelatici is correct. The Yuasa YTX20CH-BS is a sealed "high performance no maintenence" lead-acid battery, and not an AGM. It is listed erroneously as AGM on some sites, and I should have known better, since I filled it prior to sealing it and installing it in my Mk3. The specs quoted are correct, however. You need the CCA, not the AGM technology, IMHO.

Yes CCAs are great. I don't get to ride that much, so low maintenance and long life are enough for me to give up some easy starting in the cold. But someone that rides a lot throughout the year would probably be happier with lots of CCAs.
