Sachse I.E.

i have two of them - both in my laverda's and find them to be very nice units (one with over 10k now), especially as they have 9 curves or you can select from should your engine be modified etc and their damn easy to set up. Sachese went through a rough spot when volker (the orginal designer) was killed in a bike wreck (rip), but the new owners seem to be continuing to make and market these units and some say to a bit high quality

that being said i have pazons in both of my commando's and am happy with them, but was always curious how the Sachese would be in a norton

i think the price is high, but it sure looks like they have addressed my concerns on setup, and connection failures, they have lots of competition.

and the old motorcycle community is not that big.

in world full of boyer, pozan, tri, rita, etc. i'd like to see more feedback before i would go there, but if they are local to you, then they should be the first consideration

I have two of them, one on my green café and one on my Commando café, although I haven't riddent either very far, they both worked well, so I am not going to say anything bad about that ignition BUT any new build will be done with an Ignitech ignition, for reference, see another-ignition-consider-t4979.html?hilit=consider The main reason to go with Ignitech is programmability which is not present in the Sachse. The Sachse does have 9 selectable ignition curves, but only two are close to the Norton's specifications, the Ignitech can be programmed to match perfectly with what the Norton requires.

How have programmable Norton ignitons held up vs mapped ei?
With a special housing, Harley Screaming Eagle Electronic ignition works on Vincents. It is a good ignition , with two mapped advace curves (vacumn controlled) A lot of people are using it, very few problems, some for as long as twenty years now. There are several after market progammable Harley ignitions which will fit the same trigger housing. These have been tried and so far, not much luck, multiple failures have occurred in relatively few miles of use. So unless the programability is really needed, perhaps it adds a layer of complication and reliability problems along with the feature?

I have been using a Sachse ignition on my twin plugged BMW airhead for about 3 years.

I bought it because one of the ignitions curve choices on the unit was about perfect for a twin plugged bike. the black box is mounted away from the engine which I think is a good thing, its done around 15K miles all over europe and seems to work well. it uses an LED for initial ignition timing which makes timing the unit very easy.
