Hello everbody

can anybody explain me the route of the wiring harness in the front end of the frame ? The gas tank is very close to the frame, so should i route the wires from the handlebar between the two down tubes ( under the steering neck ) or should i go between the big tube and the gas tank ?
Which bolt/ screw should i use for the cylinder head ground wire ( red, approx 10mm loop ) ? valve cover, intake manifold, cylinder head bracket....
A good photo would be nice :D

Thanks for your efforts
Marco

This is from memory, but I think they just kinda lie alongside the main tube and you shimmy the tank back on their as best you can.

I did try to use that split loom conduit stuff wherever possible to try to protect the harness.

Again, from memory, and mine ain't great...

Hi, I just re-wired mine and put the main wire between the tank and stearing head then ran it down the main spine, although I tie wrapped the wire so that it 's in the gap between the big spine tube and the horizontal small tube that attaches the headsteady. As for the earth wire any of the headsteady to engine allen screws with do, if the dia of the connector is too large just cut it off and crimp on a smaller one.

Factory wiring for my 74 runs along the big tube on the right side, then tucks into the space between the tubes in front. There's a large bullet connector bundle there where wires split off to the headlamp. Handlebar wiring meets there from each side. I looked through my pics and couldn't find any, hopefully someone else has some.

The stock location for the ground wire on my bike (this may differ by year) is to one of the 3 nuts attaching the triangular plate of the head steady on the right side.

Thanks @ all, i will replace the crimp of the ground wire to one with a tighter fit. The rest of the wiring should fit as i expectet. I was only surprised about the very small space between the gas tank and main tube.
Does anybody remember were the sidestand spring has to hook in ( frame side ). Maybe my bike is missing a bracket, i cant' find a hole in the frame :? , i think the hole should be close to mounting point of the sidestand...

Mine mounts into a small hole on the underside of the crosstube in front of the bolting point for the side stand. Look carefully.
