From the INOA email list:

After 28 years of operating Rocky Point Cycle (started in 1982 in
Gainesville, FL, where I lived on Rocky Point Road) I have decided to retire
and I
have sold the business. The new owners are Bill Blake of Stowe, MA, who
is a vintage bike enthusiast and restorer, and his son, Chris, whose
interests lean more towards modern European sportbikes. RPC has been moved
intact
from West Virginia to Massachusetts and the website, 800 number, and
complete product line will be available, as well as complete restoration
services.

I have met a lot of people through the business, many of whom I consider to
be among my best friends. I plan to spend more time riding, fishing, and
learning to sail (we moved to a house on a lake in Morgantown, WV), and hope
to see many of you at rallys around the country.

Thanks for your business, and friendship, and if you are in Morgantown,
give me a call!

Regards,

Stan Smith
Morgantown, WV
(ex) Rocky Point Cycle

I placed an order right after the transition and after 8 days I had to email to check on the status. Then they finally shipped it. I'm putting it off to the move, although checking orders carefully would have been nice.

I'm surprised they haven't updated the website with more info.

Good customer service is 99% communicating with your customers.

Dave,
glad we didn't loose a distributor. Might have to let them get settled in in Mass before they are up to speed.
Hopefully the service will be just as good. Sorry to loose Stan but he probably is deserving of retiring.

I helped support Stan and he helped advise me on shiny stuff for 2 Combats.
Hope new management gets act together. Big congrats to Stan for winning the motorcycle vending game.

I'm sure moving a business is no small feat.

Too be honest the only reason I ordered from them was because they had two items I needed (silicone rocker cover gaskets and SS adjusters) that no one else had together.

I'm sure they will be better in the future.

Yep and reason enough to hope new owners please us enough to keep supply flowing.

Right. Bill Blake, AKA RoadScholar of this forum, is the new owner. Hope I'm not pre-empting you , Bill. I got really great service from Stan, and expect that I'll get the same from fellow forum member Bill.

Once you get the business sorted out, Bill, let us know about your results with your SPARX 3-phase alternator set-up.

Hell, I preempted him and this all came down a couple weeks ago. I hope Bill didn't feel he couldn't share this tidbit of information with us.

Although we are a fickle crowd.

To be fair to Bill, the takeover has meant the business had to be relocated.

Rocky Point Cycle is on a road trip! Any orders placed between 7/16/2010 and 7/21/2010 will be filled ASAP after 7/21/2010. Thank you for your patience and consideration!

I'm sure that once he's got things sorted, it will be "business as usual".

I'm glad to hear the new owner is a member here. I saw the posting earlier over on the INOA group but didn't recognize the name.

As a nod to new owner, can ya imagine re-organizing a decades old stock that organically grew up then set up your own way somewhere else. Crazy making period expected.
