road-rash and need parts

Hey Guys, had a unfortunate incident last week. Some smart-ass punk decided to slam on the brakes while we were in the passing lane. Took me by such surprise that I couldn,t get stopped in time. Two broken ribs and lots of road rash. I,am 65 and healing very slow. Any way, my bike ( 1976 MK3 ) came out pretty good, thanks to the crash bar. But I do need some parts replaced. I need the right side cluster switch houseing( starter button, kill switch, parking light switch )that the front master cylinder bolts onto. Mine was destroyed but the master cylinder survived. Also the dimmer switch button on the left side broke off, didn,t damage anything else on that side of the handlebars. I,am also looking for one muffler, mine are the orginal MK3 black button end type. I haven,t checked the fork tubes yet, they don,t look bent but will have to check later. The front fender has a pretty good dent were it hit the crash bar. Anybody have any suggestions on how to remove the dent ( stainless steel ) I think The switch houseing will be the hardest to find. I have seen them on ebay but none for sale at the present time. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated very much. Thanks Hershey

Can't help with the cluster parts but I know a place that has excellent spare ribs.

If that made you laugh I hope it didn't hurt too bad. All joking aside, sorry to hear about your mishap and hope you recover quickly.

hershey sorry to hear road Fate's Hunter got ya but that is part of putting butt in a saddle and giving up full control of life and limb, no other fault but you exposing yourself too it. Lucked out not to be run over from behind or slide under on coming mamer killer.

I may have extra switch side of Rh bar cluster though Combat version if that works. Will have to remove stanchions and roll em against each other to see with good or can be straigthened or get new ones. Likely the time/cost to fix fender ain't cost effective to you or vendors. Unless you have some genetic disease or very toxic or hidden infections, most of your seeming local aches and pains and weakness is not coming from where you feel it but from central nervous system mechanical and vascular impingement magnifying and projecting like a hidden sniper. This could be the too soon end of you as has been know for over a century the primary cause of brain and heart failure comes from brain stem area. Those who need 3/4" pad to rest head back on a table die 150% sooner and those who need a bit more 250% sooner dead as door nails or worse cripples load strain on family and self. Might try experiment of moving a sore area then with help from a free hand assist neck up and to R more or less then test the area again and note any ease felt for clue which way to stretch neck ligaments to heal up better than before. Also I've found extra amounts of mulit mineral complexes sure help ease and speed recovery long term, to go out and get hit again and again, ugh. I learned my lesion and now keep neck posture going and extra minerals as one never knows...

I have a set of switch clusters and a front fender off my 75 mk3. Pictures under my post in the for sale thread. Pm me if interested.

The easiest way is to buy a new one - they are not that expensive :D :D
Especially if your insurance ? covers it...

Someone good with a hammer and dolly could probably beat it out, and then polish it back to shiny.
May never look absolutely new again, unless they are really good.
Cost more than a new one probably too, unless they come for free.
